My Last Weekend in Uganda

When our parents were visiting us in Uganda, we arranged some awesome safaris for them.  One of their stops included 2 nights at Mihingo Lodge in Lake Mburo National Park.  They enjoyed it so much, that they gave us 2 nights there as well.  And we are VERY grateful to them for the experience.

Here are a few of the highlights from our weekend:

our tent - they don't call it luxury camping for nothin'

view from the dinning room

a storm in the distance

Great Blue Turacos

sunset

playing scrabble in the lodge - I win!  but Phil won at the chess that was played the following afternoon. D'oh.

view from the bathroom - I could get used to this

looking off the balcony

we saw these monkeys from our veranda one morning while we drank our coffee

our tent (top right on the ridge)

at the waterhole

where we had our couples massage

after massage tea

an afternoon read on our veranda

we did yoga everyday - Phil even asked for lessons.  He's getting pretty good.

one of our fabulous dinners - tomato & carrot soup, lamb, cauliflower cheese, roast veg, and chocolate mousse - who could complain?

horseback safari

Cowboy Felix Chill - Phil has had a great fear of 4 legged farm animals since age 7 due to an unfortunate experience involving a donkey ride on the beach.  Little Phil somehow ended up taking most of the ride on the underbelly of the donkey but still managing to hold on for dear life.  Despite such events, he was cool as a cucumber and actually my nerves were a little more jittery than his. (However, I have a traumatic horse story too, involving Lindsey Whitfill and a thorn tree, but I won't go into that here.)

warthogs

baby zebra nursing - this was my favorite part

I was sort of scared that my eye would be jabbed out by the thorn trees - they were literally EVERYWHERE

petting the baby horsey

water buck

Too bad it had to end.  It was a perfect weekend.

  1. Angela - Looks like you had an absolutely lovely weekend; must make it even harder to leave. But your next adventure is waiting. Good luck in that silly place called England. X
