Those who plant trees be-leaf in the future

One of the nicest things about being back has been spending time on the veranda and walking around the garden.  There have been some new additions and we're literally seeing the fruits of our labor (and Sam's!) (okay, mostly Sam's).

We're most excited about the raspberries because we didn't think they would grow here.  The strawberries are delightful and becoming prolific.  They really add to a morning bowl of oatmeal.

Remember when we bought coffee trees a few Easters past? Some of them are now producing a few beans!  Others are flowering, the stage before the fruit, and some are still just hanging out. The mango tree we planted is doing well, but will take several more years to produce fruit.  Sadly, our orange tree has a bit of a disease. We're treating her and hope she is able to recover.  Also pictured above: some herbs, Phil picking avocados, chilies gone wild, and gooseberries.

Other things going on in the yard:

New bigger and better, dog proofy-er fences around the veg patches
Pooches

Wonderful trees

I feel so fortunate to have such an amazing display of nature's beauty, literally at my doorstep.

How does your garden grow?

  1. Wow! I am so impressed. Nice collages as well! I am currently focusing on bringing nature in a bit - my two new plants and I just got some really special flowers from Zimbabwe. Luckily also bought some vases, although they are a little small. But wait until December, when I am thought my litchi trees will have *lots* of litchees! Don't you want to come over for a visit then?

  2. By the way - curious what your profession would be: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_GfqMyDmvo3M/S4f7Hv0wTtI/AAAAAAAAAcg/upIjhFbwT_0/s400/Screen+shot+2010-02-26+at+8.49.05+AM.png... Professional dog-petter?

No seriously, how's that thesis of yours going?
